Yesterday, someone asked me how is it that I always seem to be in a happy and positive mood. I’m not always in a happy mood but I will say when I wake up I try to be optimistic. The first thing I do when I wake up is smile, the next is speaking positivity into existence for my day. I’m a believer that we have the power to create or alter the energy around us, whether positive or negative. Why do I smile? Because I’m lucky! Do you know how lucky you are to just be alive? Regardless of if I feel that the world is on my back, I get up being excited and grateful that I have another opportunity to accomplish my goals.
Believe it or not, your words do have power. If you wake up and immediately say that the day will be terrible, that’s what’ll happen. I’m sure by now you know that I try to live in the present as much as possible. If I wake up every morning worrying about yesterday instead of appreciating the blessing of today, then the day is almost guaranteed to be terrible. My advice for anyone who may find themselves struggling to find a reason to be happy today, is to think about how lucky you are to have life this morning and maybe give yourself a pep talk. We’re all blessed with the opportunity to take advantage of a full 24 hours, and that’s what I intend to do.
For a few years now on New Year’s Eve, I set aside some time to reflect on the year. It’s become a tradition for me, and I love it. I can truly say that 2017 was without a doubt a year filled with some of the most important lessons I’ve ever learned. Here are the 3 lessons that changed my life in 2017
I hate scars! I was a little clumsy as a kid, and I have the scars to prove it. I remember one time I tripped on a rock while running, and I had to get six stitches. The next day in school all my friends kept asking me what happened. I ended up just trying to cover it up because it was weird looking and ugly.
I only told that story because I ran across a great quote last night.
“Never be ashamed of a scar. It simply means you were stronger than whatever tried to hurt you.” – Unknown
We all have our scars, both physical and emotional scars. Whether they’re stitches or a bad break up, scars are scars. Although our wounds may take time to heal and even scar; the beauty in our scars is that they remind us of our strength.
Earlier in the week, the health teacher at work taught the students a great lesson about having confidence. I thought the lesson was so awesome that I’d write a post about it.
Being comfortable in your own skin is important, and many people struggle with it. I can admit at certain points in my life I also struggled as well. I think it’s excellent that this teacher felt that confidence was so important that he dedicated an entire lesson to it. Towards the end of the class he played a video for the students that I decided to share with you.
Challenge Day! I woke up this morning wanting to do something a little different. For today I have a challenge for you. Yes you! My challenge for you is to list three positive qualities that describe you. The catch is you have only 10 seconds.
3 words that describe me are:

Happy Wednesday! I hope everyone is having a great day!
Late last night, I received an email asking me to write a post on forgiveness. Let’s be honest, it’s not easy forgiving someone, and it could be even more difficult forgiving yourself. It took me a while to get to a place where I was comfortable forgiving myself, and those around me. What I’ve learned over the years, is that forgiving someone else isn’t for their conscience to be clear. The act of forgiving someone is so you can move forward with your own life. How can you truly be able to notice life’s opportunities if hate and pain is weighing you down? Sometimes we miss the best opportunities, because we’re still focused on what we or someone else did years ago. Forgiveness to me is an art, and it takes time so be patient.
If this is something you’re struggling with here are a few tips to help
Over the weekend, I asked my friends what their least favorite day of the week. Without hesitation they ALL said Monday. From not wanting to go to work, to not wanting to go back to school, we have all hated it at some point.
