3 Lessons That Changed My Life in 2017

For a few years now on New Year’s Eve, I set aside some time to reflect on the year.  It’s become a tradition for me, and I love it.  I can truly say that 2017 was without a doubt a year filled with some of the most important lessons I’ve ever learned. Here are the 3 lessons that changed my life in 2017

Life is Now

Too many times I found myself thinking about a past I couldn’t change.  Thoughts of almost every “What If” scenario crept into my mind.  What if I hadn’t done that? What if I finished what I started? Trust me, life is way too short to worry about things you can’t change.  The past is the past and behind you is where it belongs.  I’ve increasingly become more aware of the present, cherishing many moments life presents to me.  Life is now and I refuse to wake up one day, regretting that I didn’t take the time to see the beauty in life today.

Life is Too Short

It feels like yesterday that I graduated high school.  I remember walking across that stage thinking that life would be a breeze, and I would cruise right through.  Now that I’m almost 27 I see how quick life really is, and how it can be over in a matter seconds.   Again, I’ve learned to cherish my moments in life whether they may be good or bad.  More importantly life is way too short to not chase your dreams.  When it comes to my dreams I find myself saying YOLO.  You only live once, there’s so much power packed into those four words.  If we only live one time, why not pursue our most desired dreams?

Love is a Force

Love is more than an emotion, it’s a force and it’s the most powerful one of all.  It’s the only thing that can turn an enemy into a friend.  It is the only thing that has the ability to both mend and destroy a heart.  And it’s the only thing that can repair a world filled with so much hate.  It is more delicate and precious than the rarest of jewels.  This was my biggest lesson of all.

Looking at the world and searching for something other than survival is noble in a world that wants us to behave like machines. We, as humans, are creatures of love and passion. You have summed it up beautifully.

Wow, I can really relate to the part where you talk about living in the moment. 2017 also thought me to forget about the past because that is not the direction I am going to and since the future is too far away I will rather focus on the here and now and make the best out of it.

    Very good article 👌🏽 #subscribed

These are helpful and wonderful lessons to learn so young! And I completely agree that love is the most important and powerful. I just don’t think true love destroys, only mends. … Thanks for visiting my site, BTW, and I’m enjoying visiting yours!
